This protocol is designed to establish the number of Nightjar males holding territory during the breeding season at Wyming Brook Nature Reserve. This will enable SRWT to make an educated assumption of breeding pairs of at the reserve.
This survey will be carried out using a technique known as Mackinnon Lists. This technique enables a rapid assessment of bird species richness over a large area, but is not designed to compile a full species list for a site, or assess population sizes.
The aim of this protocol is to establish a baseline, and implement ongoing monitoring of woodland condition on SRWT reserves. Woodland condition includes structural attributes of the woodland such as the amount of dead wood, presence of glades and or rides, or invasive species.
