The aim of this survey is to measure the bird species richness across all HERB sites using the MacKinnon List transect method.

Timing
Weekly, all year round
Method
- Can take place all year round, as long as weather is suitable
- Most important survey window is 1st April – 30th June
- Ideally takes place monthly (or as often as possible)
- Time: between one hour after dawn, and midday
- Weather: avoid strong winds and heavy rain
- Walk at a slow, steady pace counting all birds seen/heard
- Follow the transect route provided, and complete the full route
- Please fill in all parts of the survey form, including weather data
